Khel Kar Dil Se Tu Bhi ….
This is one nazm (poem) which is very close to my heart.

                                                                                                                                                                        

Presented below is essentially a literal English translation of this ghazal. A lot of effort and ability is required to carry over the charm of poetic expression and aesthetic value present in any original work into another language. I am afraid I do not have this ability. Yet I wanted to reach out to a wider audience. So even at the risk of sounding dull, I have attempted, by the way of this translation, to somehow try to covey the underlying idea of the ghazal however coarse it may seem though. I deeply lament that I could not preserve the allure of metre and rhythm that form the very soul of any ghazal in this translation. I offer my humble apologies to my readers for these poetic failings.   

You too shall pass after playing with my heart
And one more night of sadness will descend

Someone’s house will be lit up by your presence
But there will be no more dawns in my world
One more night of sadness will descend

If it is about love, then conceal it
A word about it will create more fuss
Where ever it goes
And one more night of sadness will descend

Do not squander away your heart on someone just like that
For you too shall fade away 
After turning into a pain like me
And one more night of sadness will descend

Your sorrow shall now
Live in my heart
I too shall be able to pass my life now
And one more night of sadness will descend

If I were to die
The reason for my death
should be beautiful
One more night of sadness will then descend
